A walk in the wild?
Sunday morning walk after the mowing – soot, gunk, residue, blue heron, pelicans pollution. Los Angeles RIver Long Beach. Before the rains?
Kicking the can down a path
It’s simple we are polluted
Air Quality – AQI – 59 : that means polluted. Tanks and refineries and cargo make sound. Hmpf – pollution
Birds horses & pollution
It’s very simple. This was filmed while walking the Los Angeles River. Don’t you love the ducks and prancing horse!
The AQS – that’s the air quality hovered around MODERATE – what is that? Not good
The sound was recorded in Wilmiington / TheNard – a street corner – Anaheim & Nth Henry Dr. intersection. Lots and lots of trucks and a refinery that is not named on MAPS.
The AQS – POLLUTED – what does that mean & what about the sound?
Seeing the Unseen
It’s my obsession.
Like the Canary in the coal mine. I want to use my practice of art (the canary) as a sensitivity meter for communities along the LA RIver Long Beach – Cancer alley
Art can be a useful exploration tool, an early indicator. A starting point for change.

FLOW _obstruction or diversion
Process: a systematic series of actions directed to some end:

What started out as a simple interest has turned into a mapping of our process.

Like a list we have documented our experience through sound, photo & performance and video

where, why and what – a backstory

george
Pasadena – is a wee bit east of downtown Los Angeles. A cultural hub with clusters of different socio-economic communities, divided by the 210 freeway, has awarded me a little bit of money, under the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town public art project.
Collaborating with the NW Pasadena community I will produce a series of audio stories and portraits. Stories are an essential part of culture, they connect and create a sense of place and community.
Contextualized stories can link communities. So by collecting personal experiences as audio stories, and creating interactive spaces on public transport, and mobile devices, through huge public wall drawings and on the web, the local stories will give us a glimpse of a different place, connecting disparate peoples, while exposing a commonality.
